Writing up a lengthy history of the WACKEN OPEN AIR would be like carrying coals to
Wacken wouldn’t be Wacken if there wasn’t something new there every year. In 2008, the festival entrance area will feature an entirely different layout as there will be an extra entrance to the two main stages, as well as – and this is an even more significant change – a main entrance to the Party Stage. The site where the football match used to take place in will be the entrance area leading to the Party Stage. In addition, there will be no gates between the main stages and the Party Stage, so the whole area will be part of the festival site. This means that last year’s relatively unattractive trader’s area near the Party Stage will be fully integrated into the festival site, and it will be allowed to sell CDs and DVDs.
The non-food area will be laid out as last year. We expect a record-breaking number of visitors at the METAL MARKET in 2008 again and are already working on a number of attractions for our METAL MARKET programme. Of course, we are open to your suggestions.
